Hand-Carved Stone Nataraja Statue from Kanchipuram India – 5”

$50.00

AGE UNVERIFIED / HANDMADE. While the exact age is unverified, the patina and craftsmanship suggests this exquisite hand-carved stone statue of Lord Nataraja, the dancing form of the Hindu god Shiva may have been acquired decades ago, possibly during a pilgrimage or cultural tour. Label style appears aged and handwritten.

Sourced from Kanchipuram, India—a region renowned for sacred temples and skilled stone artisans—this sculpture is a beautiful example of traditional Indian craftsmanship. The figure captures Nataraja mid-dance, enclosed in a symbolic ring of flames that represents the cosmic cycle of creation, preservation, and destruction. With fine detailing and multiple arms in classical poses, this piece is imbued with deep spiritual meaning and cultural resonance.

The sculpture is made from natural stone, likely soapstone or steatite (judging by the gray tone and visible hand tooling marks), with hand-carved detail which aligns with older artisan methods. It shows signs of age and wear, particularly on the back and base, adding to its authentic, timeworn aesthetic.

Perfect for: Spiritual or yoga spaces; Altar or meditation decor; Cultural art collections; Thoughtful, symbolic gifting. This piece is ideal for collectors of Hindu art, lovers of South Asian decor, or anyone drawn to objects that carry cultural and historical depth.

Excellent condition.

SIZE: 5”T X 3.5"W X 1.5”D
